Description:
An iconic American apparel retailer is looking for two Cut & Sew Knits / Sweaters Designers to join the Sleep & Lounge and Speed teams. In these roles, you will be responsible for creating original concepts that encompass style, color, and fabric as a result of interpreting fashion trends. You will produce sketches, make seasonal presentations of proposed designs, analyze fashion trends, partner with sourcing and materials development, and provide basic fit and body block information while attending fit sessions.
Position Details:
Position 1: Cut & Sew Knits Designer Sleep & Lounge prefer womenswear experience; sweaters experience is a plus
Position 2: Cut & Sew / Sweaters Designer Speed Team replacing a designer who has moved to Kids/Colabs
Top 5-7 Skills:
Cut & sew knits and/or sweaters design
Trend research and fashion forecasting
Sketching and seasonal concept development
Color and fabric selection
Sourcing and materials development partnership
Fit session participation and body block knowledge
Presentation and communication skills
Requirements for the role:
Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent experience
Related design experience in cut & sew knits and/or sweaters
Ability to create original concepts encompassing style, color, and fabric
Experience interpreting fashion trends and analyzing the market
Ability to produce sketches and make seasonal presentations
Experience partnering with sourcing and materials development
Ability to provide basic fit and body block information and attend fit sessions
Womenswear experience preferred
Sweaters experience is a plus
Portfolio required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent experience
Related design experience in cut & sew knits and/or sweaters
Or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
