    Description

Medical company is seeking a hands-on Senior Craft CMS Developer to own the technical health, search visibility, evolution and measurable performance of their web ecosystem, including their Craft CMS websites and Shopify store—first and foremost a Craft CMS expert who is equally comfortable shipping production code, diagnosing data and integration issues, and translating business goals into
reliable digital experiences. This is a senior individual-contributor role: you will be their only in-house developer and own the web platform end to end, directing outside developers for overflow work rather than managing a team.
    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Craft CMS and Shopify Development and Ownership
? Own day-to-day development, maintenance and technical administration of Craft CMS websites across development, staging and production environments.
? Build and extend Craft templates (Twig, element queries, sections, entry types, fields, Matrix, assets, image transforms) and develop custom plugins and modules using PHP, Yii and Craft’s APIs.
? Manage Composer dependencies, Craft and plugin upgrades, migrations and environment configuration, keeping Project Config in version control for safe, consistent deployments across environments.
? Onboard newly acquired practices: build location and provider pages, plan redirect maps and execute site and domain migrations, preserving search visibility, tracking and lead paths through each cutover.
? Troubleshoot production incidents: application errors, queue failures, caching, permissions, email delivery and asset processing.
? Maintain and extend their Shopify store: Liquid theme development, app configuration, product and catalog setup and checkout settings, keeping store tracking and integrations consistent with the rest of the web ecosystem.
    Front-End Engineering and UX/UI
? Develop responsive, accessible, high-performing templates, components, landing pages and campaign experiences using semantic HTML, modern CSS and JavaScript.
? Translate designs and business requirements into reusable components that align with the existing design system and content model.
? Improve Core Web Vitals, page speed, caching and image delivery while protecting conversion-critical functionality.
? Own accessibility conformance to WCAG 2.1 Level AA across Craft and Shopify sites, including periodic audits, remediation, accessible-content guidance for editors and accessibility checks in every release.
    Technical SEO
? Partner with their in-house SEO team as the technical owner of search visibility: structured data (schema.org markup for locations, providers, services and FAQs), crawlability, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, robots directives and indexation.
? Check every release for SEO problems before it ships—broken links, redirect chains, missing or duplicate canonicals and metadata, accidental noindex tags, sitemap gaps and structured data errors—and monitor Google Search Console for crawl and indexation issues.
? Keep location, provider and treatment pages crawlable and correctly indexed as their network grows, and protect rankings through every redesign, migration and acquisition cutover.
? Own or co-own the technical implementation and ongoing validation of GA4, Google Tag Manager and related analytics and advertising tags.
? Implement consistent events, parameters, data-layer conventions and conversion definitions across forms, phone calls, online scheduling, quizzes and other lead-generation experiences.
? Design and maintain HIPAA-aware tracking with privacy and compliance stakeholders: run the consent management platform, use server-side tagging to control what data reaches third parties, restrict or remove third-party pixels on scheduling flows, forms and logged-in pages, and use only vendors that sign
a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) wherever tracking may involve protected health information.
? Integrate website activity with CRM, call-tracking, scheduling and marketing-automation platforms, and diagnose discrepancies across analytics, ad platforms and CRM records, driving fixes to resolution.
? Support reporting that connects marketing source and campaign activity to leads, booked appointments, kept appointments, revenue and ROI.
? Establish repeatable QA checklists and automated tests for critical templates, components, forms,
    scheduling flows, tracking and integrations.
? Perform cross-browser, responsive, accessibility, regression and release testing before production deployment.
? Plan and run A/B and multivariate tests with clear hypotheses, success metrics, instrumentation and post- test analysis.
? Lead the transition of website development and maintenance from our current agency to in-house ownership, including code, credentials, hosting access, documentation and open work.
? Own the web roadmap and budget with marketing leadership, prioritizing work against business goals and tracking spend on tools, hosting and outside resources.
? Use Git-based workflows, peer review and CI/CD practices to deliver traceable, reversible and well-tested releases.
? Maintain technical documentation covering architecture, environments, deployments, integrations, tracking plans and incident procedures.
? Own hosting, backups, uptime monitoring and after-hours incident response for their Craft CMS sites: manage the hosting provider relationship, verify backups and test restores, maintain uptime and error alerting and serve as first responder for after-hours outages, with defined vendor escalation paths.
? Own website security: apply Craft, plugin and server patches promptly; manage SSL/TLS, WAF and DDoS protection; run periodic access reviews; and lead response to security incidents.
? Manage any outside developers engaged for overflow work—scoping tasks, reviewing code and enforcing standards—and coordinate with agencies and vendors while retaining internal ownership of code quality, access and technical decisions, and protect customer and business data through secure coding and least-
    privilege access.

? Demonstrated professional experience developing and supporting production websites in Craft CMS; expert-level proficiency is required.
? Strong PHP development skills and working knowledge of Yii, Twig, Composer, relational databases and Craft’s plugin/module architecture.
? Hands-on Shopify experience, including Liquid theme development, app configuration and store administration.
? Experience with Craft Project Config, environment-specific configuration, migrations, queues, caching, controlled deployments, Git and modern code-review workflows.
? Strong front-end fundamentals: semantic HTML, modern CSS, JavaScript, responsive development, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and browser debugging.
? Practical experience implementing and debugging GA4, Google Tag Manager, conversion events, data layers, marketing pixels, server-side tagging and consent management.
? Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements for website tracking technologies on healthcare sites, including scheduling flows, forms and authenticated pages.
? Working knowledge of technical SEO: schema.org structured data, crawlability, canonicals, XML sitemaps, robots directives, redirects and indexation, including hands-on use of Google Search Console.
? Strong analytical troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
? Experience with Craft CMS 4 and/or 5 upgrades, multi-site implementations, GraphQL, custom element types or complex content modeling.
? Experience with automated browser testing, unit/integration testing, visual regression testing and monitoring platforms.
? Experience supporting multi-location or lead-generation websites, including site migrations and redirect planning for acquired businesses, where accurate source-to-revenue attribution is essential.
