About the Position

The Justice Court - Las Vegas is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Court Law Clerk position. As a member of the Court's team, you will conduct legal research on applicable legal and factual issues at the direction of a judge, utilize computerized research tools and/or law library resources. The Court Law Clerk interprets and applies laws, court decisions, and other legal authorities in the preparation of briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting memoranda, opinions, and related documents concerning findings on specific cases or legal issues
  • Researching and explaining departmental, County, and State procedures to attorneys and departmental support staff
  • Conducting legal research on applicable legal and factual issues using computerized techniques and/or law library materials at the direction of an attorney or judge
  • Interpreting and applying laws, court decisions, and other legal authorities in the preparation of briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Maintaining accurate records and files; preparing a variety of records and reports as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (professional doctorate) degree
  • Full-time experience in performing legal research and/or writing legal opinions or documents is desirable
  • All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application
