Courier

Primary Duties

• Responsible for pickup and delivery of a wide variety of items in a safe and timely manner to customer or destination according to the assigned schedule and designated routes, to include all BURNCO plant locations throughout the DFW area.
• Follows all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Follows routes and time schedules.
• May be required to maintains logbooks/reports documenting all pick-ups and deliveries and accurately complete mileage and time logs.
• Adheres to the Company’s Purchase and Allocation policy and procedures.
• Performs duties of a mail meter as needed, to include folding, inserting, sealing, sorting and opening.
• Performs miscellaneous errands as needed.
• Occasionally collects payments from BURNCO clients.
• Occasionally transports office personnel and/or visitors.
• Follows HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
• Valid driver's license and a good motor vehicle record (MVR) required.
• Proven experience working as delivery driver or courier.

• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Strong customer service skills.

Physical Demands

• Essential: standing, sitting, driving, walking, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing; lifting and carrying/pushing of weight up to 50 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Frequent: stooping/bending, walking on uneven ground, speaking, lifting and carrying/pushing/pulling usual weight of 50 pounds or less.
• Occasional: kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, squatting.
• Operates hand trucks, cargo straps, cellular telephone, pallet jack.

Typical Working Conditions

• Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Minimal exposure to exhaust fumes.
