Title: Counter Sales Associate

Department: Front Counter

General Summary:

The primary responsibility of this employee is to process orders from walk-in customers, by phone, and by e-mail. Material is purchased on account, credit card, cash, and check.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enters customer order into the business system.
  • Completes order by filling, checking and processing order.
  • Maintains a balanced cash drawer.
  • Provides customer with basic technical support.
  • Handles incoming returns from customer and forwards to returns department.
  • Assists in processing returns when requested by CSRM Processor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
  • Re-stocks material that is not sold on a daily basis.
  • Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions product weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted when stocking, loading or unloading products.
  • Operates forklift: proper training and certification required. May also use material handling equipment (including pallet jack, dollies and handcart.
  • Assists in maintaining a neat & professional counter area including general housekeeping as needed.
  • Assists in daily warehouse operations when requested by leader/supervisor/manager.
  • Makes urgent pick-ups and deliveries as directed by the Construction Sales Supervisor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
  • Assists in creating, implementing and revising procedures and work instructions.
  • Supports the quality initiatives set forth by the Region.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of work experience in warehouse operations preferred.
  • Two or more years of working knowledge of internal operations and products authorized to be distributed preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with customers professionally.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, organizing, prioritizing, and completing tasks.
  • Basic PC skills with MS Office products required.

Reports To: Branch Manager

Working Conditions: Normal office environment & normal warehouse environment
