Description

Support individuals on their recovery journey through compassionate counseling, meaningful connection, and evidence-based care.

The Substance Use Recovery Counselor provides individual and group counseling services to individuals navigating substance use recovery. This role focuses on helping people build strengths, improve daily functioning, and work toward personal goals through assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis support, and care coordination. As part of a collaborative care team, the counselor plays an important role in promoting wellness, resilience, and long-term recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling services for individuals receiving substance use recovery support
  • Complete assessments, treatment planning, case management, and crisis intervention services
  • Perform the Missouri Credentialing Board's twelve core functions for substance use counseling
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in both electronic and paper records
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, staffing, and care coordination activities
  • Manage an active caseload while meeting productivity and documentation expectations
  • Support compliance with organizational, ethical, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with community resources and referral partners to support continuity of care
  • Collect and process urine drug screens as needed
  • Respond to medical or behavioral emergencies using approved intervention techniques
  • Drive as needed to support service delivery and client care coordination
  • Provide supervision for certification when eligible and applicable

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

QUALIFICATION(S): EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • High School/GED required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred*

Experience in lieu of education is accepted for the requirements with Bachelor's degree preferred

  • At least two (2) years' experience preferred
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Must possess and maintain a current, active substance use credential (CADC, CRADC, or CRAADC, etc) issued by the Missouri Credentialing Board required
  • A current, active clinical license in the state of Missouri PLPC, LMSW, PMFT, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT in good standing preferred
  • Must obtain and maintain current CPR certification within 60 days of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain certification in an approved crisis intervention methodology (CPI, MANDT, or CALM) within 60 days of hire
