We are an established law firm with a nationwide footprint and a remote work-from-home model is seeking an experienced litigation trial attorney with a minimum of ten years of litigation experience.

This is a remote position with primary openings supporting our active insurance defense practices in California (preferably the Los Angeles metropolitan area) and Pennsylvania (Philadelphia metropolitan area, Central or Southern New Jersey).

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Case Lifecycle Management: Handle all aspects of a case from inception through trial, including case and risk assessment, pleadings, written discovery, depositions, retaining and collaborating with expert witnesses, trial preparation, and attendance at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Proactive Defense: Focus on proactive case handling and creative solutions toward resolution rather than repetitive motions.
• Collaboration & Technology: Utilize cloud-based matter and document management systems. Participate in weekly virtual case-review meetings and ongoing collaboration with legal case assistants, paralegals, and docket clerks.
• Client & Carrier Communication: Maintain excellent communication with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel, ensuring timely reporting.
• Time Management: Consistently enter daily billable time.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in California (for West Coast candidates) or Pennsylvania (admission in New Jersey is an additional plus for East Coast candidates).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of heavy third-party insurance defense litigation experience involving personal injury, general liability, premises liability, and commercial automobile claims. Experience with products liability, construction site accidents, or construction defects is a strong plus.
• Trial Experience: First-chair trial experience is strongly preferred.
• Mobility: Willingness and availability to travel and appear in-person for court hearings, depositions, and site inspections when necessary.
• Skills: Strong independent work ethic combined with the ability to function seamlessly within a remote team environment, paired with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
