About the Job:

This position will serve as the project manager for a project entitled "The costs of caring: The health penalty of carework occupations" at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. This project is a multi-site partnership of academic institutions that aims to measure the impact of paid care work on the health of care workers. The project includes both a quantitative component at the University of Minnesota and a qualitative component that will be conducted at the University of Washington.

Duration: Temporary at 50% time for 12 months may be extended depending upon work performance and available funding.

Location and Work environment: This role can be hybrid, remote, or in-person.

Work Schedule: The hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday and can be flexible throughout the week.

Visa Language: Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Coordination - 80%

Execute the day-to-day administration and coordination of research projects in collaboration with the principal investigator and project leads, including the following tasks:

  • Tracking the progress of research projects from inception to completion (utilizing tracking spreadsheets, work plans and GANTT charts)
  • Serving as a point of contact and leading project-related communication with funders, research partners, and collaborating organizations
  • Coordinating agendas and documentation for regular team meetings
  • Scheduling internal meetings as well as meetings with external partners
  • Updating grant reports, budgets, and related administrative materials
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and applications
  • Providing administrative support for the principal investigator and other team members

Research Writing and Support - 20%

Support research project leads and team members to successfully implement projects, including the following tasks:

  • Conducting literature reviews specific to particular carework team projects
  • Supporting applications for data access and the completion of data use agreements and IRB documentation
  • Collaborating with team members in preparation and submission of reports, publications, and data for presentation at professional conferences and meetings
  • Integrating citations into research products utilizing citation software (e.g., Zotero)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years of experience or advanced degree plus 2 years of experience or combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective writing and analytical skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in public health, sociology, or related field
  • Experience with project management tools

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $32,000 to $46,000 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 50% Appointment
