About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in Tulsa. This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who understands that manufacturing costs go far beyond the general ledger.

You’ll work closely with Accounting, Operations, Production, Purchasing, and Supply Chain to understand material, labor, overhead, inventory, and work-in-process costs. The role is highly analytical and gives you the opportunity to identify cost drivers, investigate variances, improve reporting, and provide information that helps the business make better decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze manufacturing costs including materials, labor, overhead, inventory, and production expenses.

  • Maintain and analyze product, job, and manufacturing cost information.

  • Review actual costs against standards, budgets, and expectations and investigate significant variances.

  • Analyze WIP, inventory, COGS, purchasing costs, and production-related expenses.

  • Support inventory valuation, reconciliations, cycle counts, and month-end close activities.

  • Investigate material, labor, purchasing, and manufacturing variances to identify underlying cost drivers.

  • Analyze job and project profitability and help identify factors affecting margins.

  • Develop detailed Excel-based reports, models, and analysis for management.

  • Reconcile cost accounting information with the general ledger and support financial reporting.

  • Partner with Operations, Production, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Accounting to improve visibility into manufacturing costs.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles.

  • Experience with inventory, WIP, COGS, standard/actual costs, and manufacturing variances.

  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets and build meaningful analysis.

  • Experience working with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively with both accounting and operational teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience That Could Be Helpful

  • Job costing or project-based manufacturing.

  • Standard and actual costing.

  • Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analysis.

  • Experience working with complex bills of material and manufacturing routings.

  • Engineered-to-order, make-to-order, or other highly customized manufacturing environments.

Who This Could Be a Great Fit For

This is not simply a general accounting position inside a manufacturing company. We’re looking for someone who understands how manufacturing actually works and can connect the numbers to what is happening on the production floor.

If you enjoy digging into why costs changed, where margins are moving, how materials and labor affect profitability, and what the business can do differently, this role offers an opportunity to have a meaningful impact beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
