Cost Accountant

A growing manufacturing company is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This position will partner closely with leadership to support cost accounting, inventory analysis, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, analyzing complex data, and providing insights that drive business performance.
Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production costs, margins, absorption rates, and operational performance to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare variance analysis, fluctuation reporting, and management reports that provide actionable business insights.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities.
- Assist with inventory accounting, including inventory valuation, cycle counts, work-in-process analysis, finished goods accounting, and inventory audits.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, sales, and HR teams to support financial and operational initiatives.
- Assist with external audits, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Support ERP system enhancements, process improvements, and reporting automation efforts.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and identify opportunities to improve efficiency across accounting workflows.
Cost Accountant Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems. Experience with EPICOR is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and other reporting or data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
