    This role sits at the center of how the plant makes money, from standard cost to margin analysis. You will own the numbers behind product cost and cost-reduction projects, with direct exposure to operations leaders and a clear runway toward senior finance roles.


    Position Summary


    The Cost Accountant manages standard cost, directs the cost accounting close, and prepares the analysis that operations and finance use to control margin. This role partners with the Controller on budgeting and special projects. The Cost Accountant reports to the Controller.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Ensure accurate bills of material, routings, and standard cost.
    • Direct the monthly cost accounting close, including inventory and cost analysis.
    • Prepare cost estimates for new products, changes, and comparative analysis.
    • Calculate and track savings on cost-reduction projects.
    • Prepare month-end financial reports, journal entries, and variance explanations with operations leaders.
    • Support the annual budget, including capacity, equipment loading, labor, and overhead.
    • Help with year-end physical inventory.


    Requirements


    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience.
    • Strong ERP skills (for example JD Edwards, SAP, or similar).
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Superior written and oral communication skills.
