Job Overview:
Put Your Cost Accounting Expertise Behind Manufacturing on a Larger Scale. Join our growing manufacturing operation in the greater Buffalo, NY area as a Cost Accountant, where your financial insight will help drive decisions in a complex manufacturing environment. Our facility manufactures a diverse range of large-scale Multi Stage Geared (MSG) air compressors and aftermarket remanufactured products that support customers across a variety of industries. As a key member of the finance team, you'll play an integral role in the facility's financial operations-maintaining accurate cost accounting processes, supporting business decisions, and driving continuous improvement.
This onsite opportunity is ideal for a strategic, proactive professional who enjoys tackling complex tasks and collaborating with peers and leadership. You'll bring a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the sound judgment and professional maturity to manage competing priorities effectively. Responsibilities:
Drive reliable and meaning Standard Costing within the plant including:
Daily costing updates for manufactured and purchased parts
Execute the annual cost roll for material, labor and overhead
Supporting new product development cost estimates and analysis
Activities and analysis to improve overall accuracy of product cost
Analyze and report variances such as PPV, Labor, and Freight.
Partner with on-going cost reviews (monthly/quarterly models, manufacturing variances and all other cost analysis)
Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities
Complete/Review monthly account reconciliations and financial performance analysis
Execute and Improve close processes and the environment of control
Monitor processes and controls relating to financial transactions, recommending and implementing improvements with the Controller and business partners.
Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and work directly with internal/external audit teams\
Support Operations teams in project and productivity execution
Work closely with non-finance team members to drive cost improvements and analysis in all production activities (leveraging Lean manufacturing concepts in the pursuit of continuous improvements)
GRNI Process: Work with team to process GRNI, to keep within an acceptable level and in alignment with company policy.
Analyze/Report/Close Capital Projects
Partner in Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecasting, and Monthly Financial Projections.
Provide Meaningful Business Analysis
Support and execute ad hoc projects as assigned by the Plant Controller
Requirements:
Core Competencies
Preferences:
Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets.
Experience using SAP in a manufacturing or cost-accounting environment.
Professional certification such as:
Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodology and its application to cost reduction and continuous improvement.
Travel and Work Arrangements
The pay range for this role $65,000 - $80,000 annually.The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
