    Rowan County Detention Center is actively hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Full-Time Day Shift position. This role works 12-hour shifts.     About the role

    • Rowan County Detention Center is looking for a reliable and qualified LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) to care for individuals in our custody.

    What you'll do

    • Provide direct patient care to incarcerated individuals
    • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
    • Collect vital signs, lab specimens, and patient health data
    • Support sick call and assist providers with procedures
    • Administer medications and maintain accurate MAR documentation
    • Monitor patient conditions and report changes
    • Conduct rounds and document patient progress
    • Follow infection control and safety protocols
    • Maintain medication security, including narcotics accountability
    • Assist with patient transfers and required reporting
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
    • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Virginia
    • Strong understanding of nursing care principles
    • Ability to recognize signs of mental illness, emotional disturbances, or substance dependency
    • Proficient in phlebotomy and administering PPD tests
