Description of Work

This position is located at Greene Correctional Institution in Greene County, NC and houses minimum custody male offenders.

Reporting directly to the Correctional Warden, the Correctional Associate Warden of Operations is responsible for assisting the Warden in the total operations of the facility.

Additionally, this position has direct management and supervisory responsibility for the operations of several critical functions to include the general day-to-day and the 24-hour operation of the facility.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
• Ensure the safety and security of the housing of male offenders housed at a minimum custody correctional institution and ensuring the safety of the staff and general public.
• Working closely with supervisors to provide guidance and direction on prison policies and providing direction and structure for the work of the Correctional Captains, Correctional Lieutenants, Correctional Sergeants Correctional Officers, and support staff.
• During any extended period of absence of the Warden.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036.00

• Demonstrated experience in supervision and management techniques

• Demonstrated understanding of supportive counseling practices and evidence of experience with treatment program methodologies.

• Documented experience with community‑based services and the ability to identify and utilize public and private resources available to individuals.

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory, administrative or consultative experience in corrections or related work;

OR

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
