Corporate Tax Director

This Corporate Tax Director role is a rare opportunity to step into a visible, strategic leadership position within a growing organization. You will oversee all aspects of tax while working closely with external advisors and internal leadership to build a scalable, best-in-class tax function.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740, including the provision, deferred tax schedules, workpapers, financial statement disclosures, and audit support
- Manage federal, state, local, and international (U.S., Canada, Mexico) tax compliance, ensuring income and non-income returns are prepared, filed, and paid accurately and on time
- Develop, communicate, and enforce global tax policies, procedures, and internal controls, driving continuous improvement and scalability as the Company grows
- Identify and implement tax planning strategies that minimize worldwide tax expense while managing the Company's tax exposure
- Lead implementation and monitoring of transfer pricing policies
- Own relationships with external tax advisors, including engagement, fees, and oversight of their compliance work
- Manage all tax audits, notices, regulatory inquiries, and audit defense
- Advise executive leadership on the tax benefits, exposures, and accounting implications of mergers, acquisitions, and other significant transactions
- Perform all tax forecasting and budgeting
- Provide well-researched, authoritative support for all Company tax positions, and monitor changes in tax law and income tax accounting standards, advising management on their impact
- Manage state nexus analysis and related tax registrations, and coordinate with accounting staff on non-U.S. tax matters
- Lead training to equip Finance and non-Finance stakeholders with working knowledge of global tax governance; perform other duties as assigned
- Manage appropriate tax registrations in compliance with state nexus and tax exposure analysis
- Lead training initiatives to ensure that Finance and non-Finance stakeholders are equipped with the required working knowledge of tax governance across relevant global jurisdictions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA with MST strongly preferred
- 6+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax with a preference for experience supporting a publicly traded company
- Strong ASC 740 experience including experience calculating current and deferred taxes and maintaining deferred tax schedules with a strong understanding of temporary and permanent differences, tax basis and book-to-tax reconciling items
- Experience with required financial statement disclosures relating to income taxes
- Experience in preparation of income tax provision workpapers and related audit support
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions including tax aspects of accounting for business combinations
- Multi-state and international tax experience preferred
- Ability to operate strategically and hands-on
