    Opportunity: Corporate Director of Engineering

    Develop and maintain a best in class corporate engineering function by leading the regional engineering program and capital expenditure process across a large portfolio of managed branded and independent hotel properties throughout the United States. In addition, provide direct support to property general managers and chief engineers in a designated region.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Recruit, interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with program requirements and consistent with HHM core values.
    • Report and communicate all departmental initiatives and performance to executive level corporate stakeholders and multiple ownership groups.
    • Attend and/or conduct regular meetings with Regional Engineering team to ensure continued program evolution and level of excellence.
    • Work intimately with the corporate risk management team to ensure all insurance requirements are met and maximize company underwriting and insurance pricing advantage.
    • Ensure proactive approach to controlling risk cost as compared to competitors.
    • Create a phased three year plan to advance the sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM's Earth View program as well as maximizing hotel asset energy efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain hotel brand relationships and negotiate project requirements in an effort to meet brand standards and owner's expectations related to budget and expectations.
    • Create program to promote safety, ensure property level compliance with OSHA standards and reduced claims related cost.
    • Oversee the annual planning of capital expenditure budgets across 200+ properties.
    • Aid in Due Diligence activities as required by acquisitions and development teams.
    • Direct project management responsibility for critical, high profile projects as requested by executive management.
    • Oversee selection of major mechanical specifications including any required third party consultants.
    • Negotiate with contractors andvendors to achieve best value for labor and materials associated with the property improvement/development plan and in accordance with franchise requirements.
    • Review, analyze, and interpret construction drawings and specifications as necessary.
    • As needed, assist field personnel with coordination relative to state, county and townshiprequirements for permits/inspections and to attend related meetings.

    Regional Director

    • Assist Regional Director of Operations and Hotel General Managers with the annual property level staffing and budgeting to ensure proper maintenance of hotel assets.
    • Educate and train property level Engineers on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and safety regulations.
    • Monitor the execution and achievement of the hotel's preventative maintenance program goals.
    • Provide guidelines and assistance on reduction in energy usage through training and focusing on best practice directives.
    • Assist in setting procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, basic supplies, TV's, and standard FF&E within hotels.
    • Promote and enforce organized paperwork management by property engineering staff. Ensure all PM logs are kept current.
    • Lead the management of special capital projects such as major mechanical replacements.
    • Assist properties in securing and reviewing competitive bids for capital projects through preferred vendors and local vendors.
    • Assist staff in properly cataloging all property mechanical equipment with location, origination date, make, model and known repairs.
    • Inform senior leadership of recommendations for asset preservation of major mechanical repair/replacement during budget process. Assist in the annual review/creation of 5 year CapEx plan.
    • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM's EarthView program.
    • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
    • Perform other duties as requested by management.

    Position Requirements

    • 10+years of progressive experience in multi-property facility management, development and construction in the hospitality industry.
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar practice preferred and/or significant relevant experience.
    • Superior analytical skills and extensive experience with analysis/utilization of reports, P&L's and balance sheets to develop budgets and supportable projections.
    • Extensive project management experience.
    • Any of the following certifications are highly desirable: Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certified by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).

    Work Environment and Context

    • Frequent travel required.
    • Required to sit for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, walk, bend, reach, use hands and fingers, see, talk and hear.
