Corporate Counsel, Financial Services & Commercial Contracts

As a Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal support across a broad range of commercial contracting and business counseling matters, primarily supporting Best Buy's Financial Services and Best Buy Business Sales teams. You will partner closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to negotiate complex agreements, advise on contractual risk, support business initiatives, and provide practical legal guidance that advances business objectives.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you'll do

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of complex commercial agreements across the business
• Counsel business teams on commercial matters involving customers, vendors, partners, and service providers
• Advise stakeholders on contractual risk, business objectives, and practical legal solutions
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and drive efficient outcomes
• Manage a broad range of commercial contracting and business counseling matters in a fast-paced environment
• Develop and improve contract templates, playbooks, and contracting processes

Basic qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota
• 3+ years of post-bar experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
• Significant experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial agreements
• Experience balancing legal risk with business objectives in commercial contracting and business counseling matters

• Experience negotiating complex commercial contracts in a dynamic business environment
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and risk assessment skills
• Experience advising business clients in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Experience identifying and evaluating complex legal issues and providing practical, business-focused advice
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and cross-functional teams
• Experience supporting financial services products, programs, or regulatory matters
