Our client, a large publicly traded organization in the real estate industry, is currently seeking a Contract Corporate Accounting Manager.
This would be an 18-to-24-month contract role that is
hybrid role located in Malvern, PA.
This person will be an analytical and organized thinker with a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles ("US GAAP") as well as SEC filing experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in public accounting and/or experience working within the accounting function at a mid-sized publicly held company. Additionally, this individual will have strong problem-solving skills, demonstrate attention to detail, have solid interpersonal and communication abilities, be comfortable meeting deadlines and recognize a sense of ownership for the role.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the monthly/quarterly close process;
- Overseeing and maintaining the integrity of the corporate general ledger in accordance with US GAAP, including preparing/reviewing journal entries and general ledger account analysis/reconciliations;
- Producing and reviewing clear and organized workpapers/documentation that adequately support the Company's SEC filings and the internal/external audit process;
- Understanding, researching and preparing analyses associated with technical accounting areas relevant to the real estate industry, including but not limited to lease accounting, revenue recognition, impairment of long-lived assets, consolidation and business combinations/asset acquisitions;
- Accounting for property, debt, joint venture and other complex transactions as needed;
- Preparing and communicating monthly financial results to senior management;
- Understanding, managing and maintaining the Company's system of internal control;
- Managing the annual budgeting process, including leading communications/coordination across departments, divisions, districts and with senior management;
- Serving as a resource for other departments regarding inquiries related to financial performance, budgets and general ledger accounts;
- Serving as a point of contact for the internal and external audit teams;
- Assisting with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements as needed;
- Performing special projects as needed.
Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, CPA license preferred;
- 7+ years of professional experience in progressive accounting roles, real estate/public company experience preferred;
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements;
- Strong technical accounting skills;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to continuously exhibit attention to detail;
- Problem solving and analytical skills are essential;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative and deadline driven environment;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Compensation range $52 to $62 an hour.
