Description

What You'll Do:

Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Corporate Accountant, Cash & Bank Reconciliation will own the end-to-end reconciliation process for 60+ corporate bank accounts and the A/P and A/R sub-ledgers each month, while building broader corporate accounting experience across the month-end close. This position operates on a hybrid work schedule based out of our headquarters in Chantilly, VA. The role is critical to maintaining financial integrity, optimizing cash visibility, and supporting a swift, accurate close using our core enterprise platform, Microsoft Dynamics.

Responsibilities

Cash & Bank

  • High-Volume Reconciliations: Perform accurate monthly, weekly, and daily reconciliations for 60+ bank accounts across multiple business entities.

  • System Integration: Use Microsoft Dynamics to pull general ledger data, match automated bank feeds, and systematically track transactional discrepancies.

  • Transaction Matching: Audit and match high-volume data streams, including ACH transactions, wire transfers, credit card merchant processing, and checks.

  • Cash Reporting: Prepare daily cash position reports, monitor intercompany cash movements and bank transfers, and flag unusual activity, duplicate payments, and stale-dated checks.

A/P and A/R

  • Sub-Ledger Reconciliations: Reconcile the A/P and A/R sub-ledgers to the general ledger control accounts each month, including aging reports, unapplied payments and credits, and open-item detail.

  • Cash Application Tie-Outs: Tie A/R cash receipts and A/P disbursements to bank activity, and identify unapplied, misapplied, or unmatched items.

  • Resolution: Work with the A/P and A/R teams to research and clear reconciling items, and escalate aged or unusual balances to the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.

Across All Reconciliations

  • Discrepancy Resolution: Identify, investigate, and resolve variances between source records and the general ledger (GL), collaborating closely with internal teams. Perform root-cause analysis on recurring discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

  • Month-End Support: Prepare journal entries, roll-forward schedules, and reconciliation reports within the ERP system to support the Corporate Controller during the close cycle.

Development Track: Corporate Accounting (approx. 30-40%)

  • Build working knowledge of the full month-end close through rotating responsibility across corporate accounting areas, such as accruals and adjusting entries, intercompany accounting, prepaids, fixed assets, and flux analysis.

  • Take ownership of one or two additional account areas within 6-12 months, as agreed with the Corporate Controller.

  • Partner with the Accounting and Financial Accounting & Analysis teams to understand how transactions flow from source systems to the GL and financial statements.

Controls, Audit Readiness & Process Improvement

  • Audit Readiness: Maintain clean, well-organized digital documentation and workpapers to ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.

  • Process Optimization: Assist the Corporate Controller in identifying automation opportunities within Microsoft Dynamics, such as auto-matching rules and workflow improvements, to streamline the reconciliation process.

  • Documentation: Document reconciliation procedures so the process is repeatable and supports cross-training.

What We're Looking For:
