Role The Core Support Analyst supports the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the credit union’s core banking system (Symitar Episys), the managed automation services platform, and related applications. This role works closely with business units, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Project Management, and Process Improvement teams to analyze business needs, support system enhancements, and ensure reliable core system functionality. The Core Support Analyst assists in troubleshooting system issues, coordinating testing and implementation of new functionality, and documenting system processes to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. This position serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the Core Support and Development team to help deliver effective technological solutions that support the credit union’s strategic objectives and member service. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Knowledge and Skills Experience: Two to five years of similar or related experience in core banking systems support, business systems analysis, information technology, or financial institution operations. Experience working with core banking platforms such as Symitar Episys or similar financial systems preferred. Experience supporting system implementations, testing, troubleshooting, and business process analysis is desirable. Education/Certifications/Licenses: A two- or four-year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered. Industry certifications or specialized training related to core banking systems, data analysis, or systems administration are a plus. Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of collaboration, communication, and problem-solving ability is required. The position requires frequent interaction with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and occasional interaction with vendors or third-party providers. The ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical users, facilitate discussions, and build consensus on solutions is essential. Other Skills: Working knowledge of Symitar Episys, automation tools, data processing concepts, and system integrations preferred. Familiarity with reporting tools, databases, or query tools such as SQL is desirable. Ability to analyze business processes, document system workflows, and support system testing activities. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions. Proficiency in standard business software applications such as Microsoft Office products is required. Maintain knowledge with training in BSA Compliance - every staff member is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti- Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures. This includes required BSA reporting. Specific functions such as tellers and front-line staff within Spero Financial will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department and report such activity. In addition to any other assigned training courses, BSA, CIP, OFAC and AML related courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Required to maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control requirements. Comply with all Spero policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations. |
