Originally formed through Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. and Inspiration Plumbing Company, VMG brings decades of industry experience together with a forward-thinking approach to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions.As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Core Drilling Technician to perform precise drilling operations in concrete, masonry, and other materials for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installations. This role is ideal for a safety-focused professional who takes pride in accuracy, properly maintained equipment, and quality workmanship.What You'll DoPerform Core Drilling OperationsPerform core drilling in concrete, masonry, and other materials for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installationsFollow project drawings, specifications, and layout plans to determine required hole locations, sizes, and depthsCollaborate with layout teams to mark and confirm drilling locations before work beginsSet up and operate core drilling equipment safely and efficientlyMonitor drilling progress and adjust techniques or equipment settings to achieve precise resultsVerify that completed holes meet project requirements for placement, size, depth, and finishAssist with transporting, staging, and preparing tools, equipment, and materials at project sitesMaintain Safety & QualityFollow VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety proceduresUse required personal protective equipment and follow safe practices when operating drilling machineryInspect work areas before drilling and identify potential hazards, obstructions, or conflictsConfirm drilling locations before beginning work to help prevent damage, rework, and safety incidentsConduct routine inspections and maintenance of core drilling tools and equipmentReport damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment promptlyMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areasIdentify opportunities to improve drilling efficiency, accuracy, and safetySupport Project ExecutionCoordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, layout teams, and other field personnelCommunicate the status of core drilling work and raise issues or required adjustments promptlyMaintain organized records of drilling activities, measurements, equipment usage, and deviations from project plansSupport project schedules by completing assigned drilling work accurately and efficientlyAssist other field personnel with related construction tasks as neededFollow company policies and jobsite requirements at all timesPerform other duties and projects as assignedStrengthen Your SkillsStay current with developments in core drilling equipment, technology, and techniquesParticipate in on-the-job training and professional development opportunitiesShare field knowledge and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environmentDemonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to quality craftsmanshipWhat You BringAt least 2 years of core drilling experienceExperience drilling concrete, masonry, and similar construction materialsAbility to safely set up, operate, inspect, and maintain core drilling equipmentAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, layout plans, and specificationsStrong understanding of drilling measurements, placement, depth, and diameter requirementsWorking knowledge of construction-site safety practices and proper PPE usageStrong attention to detail and commitment to accurate workmanshipEffective communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaborate with project and field teamsAbility to perform the physical requirements of an active construction environmentValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred ExperienceCore drilling experience on commercial mechanical construction projectsExperience supporting HVAC, plumbing, piping, or electrical installationsExperience coordinating drilling activities with layout teams, Superintendents, and Project ManagersFamiliarity with multiple core drilling systems, mounting methods, and drilling techniquesExperience maintaining drilling records and documenting completed workWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesOpportunities for career growth and advancementThe opportunity to work on challenging commercial mechanical projectsA collaborative, team-oriented environment where your skills and experience make an impactWhy VMG?At VMG, we're focused on more than completing projects.
