Each elementary school will offer two Family Engagement Nights this school year.This program will enable families to participate in hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities that correlate with curriculum. Parents will work alongside and assist their children with each project to help promote their literacy, STEAM, and SEL skills. Elementary families throughout the Kearny School District will be invited to participate during their school's events. The goal of this program is to promote the importance of education and encourage partnerships within our neighborhood and community schools. Coordinators and facilitators will be hired to design and conduct building-based Family Engagement Nights to accommodate working family schedules. Staffing Structure (per building):Coordinators will be approved for a maximum of 50 hours or 2 Coordinators for a maximum of 25 hours each. Duties will include:Working closely with building administrator to plan content of eventsOrganizing team meetingsPurchasing SuppliesCommunication with families and teachersFacilitating family eventsCollecting team timesheets/ salary vouchers Facilitators will be approved for a maximum of 10 hours each. Duties will include:Initial team meeting to design workshopsPlanning/meeting with family engagement teamEvent prep and clean upFacilitating family engagement eventsBilingual candidates preferred, but not required.REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must be certified teachers. Duties must be performed outside of regular school duties/hours.REMUNERATION:Remuneration will be in accordance with the current KEA contract.
