Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervision, coordinates all aspects of the orientation leader training program. Assists with the planning and implementation of all orientation and transition programs to ensure an effective transition of new students and their families.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelors degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

  • Must posses a valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct university orientation experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Planning and implementing full day orientation programs of new students and parents; selecting and training staff; presentation skills; working with diverse staff

Job Duties

Job Duty

Recruits, selects, trains, supervises and evaluates a team of up to 50 Orientation Leaders. Oversees the development of learning outcomes and leadership development for Orientation Leaders and Team Leaders

Serves as the Coordinator of New Student Orientation, assists in orientation planning and coordination

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty

Assists in the development of Office of New Student Orientation publications and communication. Assists with day-to-day support of the registration system, social media, online pre-orientation modules, websites, etc.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Provides direct supervision to the Graduate Assistant in the Office of New Student Orientation; supports the selection, training, and supervision of graduate interns.

Oversees the New Student Orientation Service Project.

Ongoing development of national reputation of USCs programs by presenting at meetings, publishing, corresponding with other professionals , and coordinating annual assessment on orientation related topics.
