    Position Summary

    We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused professional to support the coordination of surgical services. This role is essential in delivering excellent patient-centered care by ensuring all scheduling, financial, and communication processes are completed efficiently for patients undergoing both major and minor operative procedures.

    The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between physicians, patients, and payors, helping create a seamless and positive experience throughout the surgical journey.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and maintain surgical schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of operating room (OR) time
    • Schedule and prioritize surgical cases while managing physician calendars
    • Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility
    • Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and services
    • Prepare, communicate, and explain cost estimates prior to services
    • Identify and collect prepayments, and establish payment plans as needed
    • Provide in-depth financial counseling in a professional and compassionate manner
    • Assist uninsured patients with sponsorship options
    • Update and maintain accurate patient demographic and financial information
    • Coordinate special needs and logistics for each patient's surgical experience
    • Act as the primary communicator between physicians, patients, and insurance providers
    • Support a smooth and efficient care process from scheduling through procedure completion
    • Float to other practices or adjust schedule as needed for staffing support

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in business, financial services, or a physician practice setting
    • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10 coding required

    Substitutions:

    • Bachelor's degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience
    • Associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for one (1) year of experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record (EHR) systems
    • Prior experience in surgical scheduling or healthcare financial counseling
