Beyond formal tasks, success in this role requires:

  • Deep love for children’s spiritual formation and learning styles

  • Ability to see curriculum through both educational and discipleship lenses

  • Sensitivity to cultural representation and inclusion in lesson preparation
  • Joyful presence that motivates volunteers through clear communication and resourcing
  • Recognition that ministry effectiveness is rooted in God’s work through simple, faithful preparation


Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements

  • Services Management & Support (6 hours/week)

    • In conjunction with BridgeKids Leadership Team,

      • Ensure student safety protocols are implemented during Sunday services

      • Create a welcoming environment for families and volunteers

      • Directly monitor the delivery of educational content and programming, volunteer classroom management, and provide volunteer oversight

      • Steward ministry spaces, equipment, and supplies

      • Maintain knowledge of BridgeKids Policies and Procedures

  • Curriculum Preparation and Implementation (5 hours/week)
    • Collaborate with the BridgeKids Leadership Team  (BKLT) members for lesson planning and sequencing that reflect theological accuracy and Bridgeway’s mission and vision

    • Maintain regular, timely communications to volunteer teams

  • Classroom Environment and Excellence (3 hours/week)
    • Maintain safe, clean, and engaging classroom spaces

      • Ensure classrooms are organized, welcoming, and age-appropriate

      • Verify that classrooms have been accurately set up before Sunday services with needed supplies and lesson materials 

      • Inventory and restock supplies weekly, communicating needs to the Director

      • Monitor classroom cleanliness and safety standards in collaboration with the Building Logistics team when needed

  • Volunteer Support (2 hours/week)
    • Resource volunteers for successful teaching and care
      • In conjunction with BridgeKids Leadership Team,

        • Communicate curriculum highlights and classroom preparation updates to volunteers

        • Assist in training volunteers on curriculum use and classroom best practices as needed

        • Recruit, interview, train adult and student volunteers in their serving roles, including curriculum use and classroom best practices as needed

        • Equip classroom leads to support the church’s overarching vision and church-wide ministry efforts

  • Mandatory Informative & Collaborative Meetings (4 hours/week)
    • Attend weekly 1:1 meetings with BridgeKids Director
    • Attend weekly BridgeKids Leadership Team meetings 
    • Hold collaborative meetings with individual BridgeKids Leadership Team members
    • Attend monthly BCC staff meetings 
    • Hold regular meetings with volunteer team leads


Ministerial Functions (If Applicable)

This position is not a pastoral role but requires spiritual maturity and modeling Christ-like character in all interactions with children, families, and volunteers.

Required Education and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience working with children in educational or ministry environments

  • Availability for Sundays and midweek preparation hours


Preferred Education and Qualifications

  • Coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Ministry

  • Experience with multicultural curriculum adaptation
  • Familiarity with Planning Center, Google Suite, and standard office software

    • Team training, fellowships, holiday programming, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • None (supports volunteers but does not directly supervise them)



Work Environment

  • Professional church-based environment
  • Primarily onsite for preparation and Sunday execution
  • May include limited remote hours for lesson planning as approved by supervisor

This role uses standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, phones, and copiers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching in classroom environments

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Approximately 20 hours per week

  • Sundays required

Travel

The position is primarily located at the Columbia campus, with occasional travel between the Columbia campus and the Owings Mills-Reisterstown campus.
