Position Summary

Walsh University College of Health Sciences seeks an innovative Nurse Educator to be based in the successful and highly respected Gary & Linda Byers School of Nursing as a Coordinator of Labs, Clinicals, and Simulation with a rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The candidate must have current practice and certification in simulation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides oversight direction and support of simulation, clinical learning, and laboratory experiences to ensure course learning outcomes (CLO's) for all programs.
  • Works in conjunction with clinical partners to secure clinical placement for undergraduate students.
  • Oversees laboratories to ensure equipment is functioning and supplies are sufficient.
  • Coordinates all simulation experiences within the College of Health Sciences.
  • Assists faculty with simulation/equipment as needed.
  • Leads the Simulation Committee in the School of Nursing.

  • Leads faculty development of simulation projects, development and identifies and leads revisions.
  • Assists with evaluation of program data as requested.
  • Uses simulation to provide high quality learning experiences to undergraduate and graduate nursing students and other schools in health sciences as requested.
  • Primary responsibilities include organizing, facilitating and evaluating simulation events and programs.
  • Participate and lead development of curriculum and facilitate simulation scenarios using Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSBP) and International Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a formal simulation faculty and facilitator mentoring process for simulation educators.
  • Develop and lead community outreach activities.
  • Develop and teach practice labs for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
  • Maintain lab fees and budget for simulation and labs.
  • Develop and conduct evaluations related to effectiveness of simulation learning.
  • Maintain data regarding student achievement of CSLO's through simulation and clinical learning labs.
  • Ensure Clinical Learning Lab and Simulation inventories are conducted and that resources are available and organized for each lab and simulation experience.
  • Provide input to the Dean and Program Directors regarding long range planning and use of simulation in all programs.
  • Make recommendations to the Dean for additional purchases to support labs and simulation areas.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Applicants must hold a Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN), Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) or currently enrolled in a doctoral program preferred.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) within 6 months.

Current simulation certification or in process

Active, unencumbered Ohio RN Licensure

Education: Applicants must hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNS, or DNP) or current enrollment in a doctoral program is preferred.

Work Experience: Experience facilitating high-quality simulation scenarios using the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSBP).

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude is a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Acemapp, Silk Road, CastleBranch and Typhon preferred.
