Position Title Coordinator/Nurse Aide and NATCEP Trainer Division Advancement & Community Engagement(DIV) Department Community Engagement Job Description

The Nurse Aide Trainer will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination. The trainer must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The Trainer will teach a minimum of 85.5 hours of classroom/lab instruction and/or 56 hours of clinical experience at a college location and in a Pennsylvania State licensed long-term care facility or skilled nursing facility and possess a valid RN license for the state of Pennsylvania with two years of experience as an RN. Must either possess a TTE certificate or attend TTE Training and be approved by the Department of Education before teaching begins. The Trainer will also assist in the recruitment and selection of the Nurse Aid Candidates, is responsible for classroom set up including student documents, paperwork, handouts, etc. Other duties may include scanning, filing, and follow up documentation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reviews curriculum on an annual basis at a minimum and revise as necessary
  • Ensure quizzes, tests, and all instructional materials are relevant to the curriculum
  • Recruits and selects Nurse Aide Candidates
  • Assists with resolving student issues
  • Guides other trainers to ensure the program objectives are met
  • Provides remedial assistance to students as needed
  • Participates in the review process conducted by PDE
  • Maintains supplies/equipment required to teach competencies effectively
  • Completes all classroom documentation per PDE guidelines
  • Assess student paperwork for program eligibility
  • Completes all classroom preparation
  • Perform job duties in accordance with College policies and procedures.

  • Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices, and current disciplines including continuing educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, work groups/teams, and professional organizations.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by keeping current with emerging practices; monitor developing trends; integrate new technologies as applicable.
  • Serve as a member of President's Council. • Advocate for the College at community events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) licensure

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience; at least one of the two years must be in long-term care. Experience includes direct care, supervision, or education in meeting residents' psychosocial, behavioral, cognitive, and physical needs.
  • Completion of Teaching-The-Educator workshop (must be done before teaching Nurse Aide students)

Clearances:

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check Clearance, and FBI Federal Criminal History Record Clearance are required
  • Basic Employment Verification, National Criminal Database Search, and Five-Panel Drug Screen are required, at the College's expense
  • Current, negative 2-Step Mantoux, chest x-ray, or QuantiFERON TB Gold. An annual Mantoux is acceptable if evidence of a baseline 2-Step Mantoux is maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related work experience in higher education is preferred.

Salary $60,037 Schedule Days/Hours Monday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Tuesday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Wednesday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Thursday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday - 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
