    COORDINATOR: GATEWAY TO SUCCESS

    OVERVIEW:

    DeSales University, in Center Valley, PA, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts Salesian, Catholic university, under the leadership of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. Founded in 1965, the 550-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles southwest of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,500 includes undergraduate day and evening students, and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 135 full-time faculty members and offers more than 40 bachelor''s degrees, twelve graduate programs, and over 20 certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines; many of these can be completed fully online.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Coordinator of Gateway To Success oversees programming and services for students in the Gateway To Success Program. Beginning with their admission to DeSales in the senior year of high school, these students receive support before and during the entirety of their college experience, including intensive support in the summer prior to matriculation and throughout their first year. This individual also contributes to the university's retention goals by coordinating programs and initiatives for first-generation students such as Alpha Alpha Alpha and peer-to-peer coaching through work-study programming. Additionally, this position supports the ASC during the summer months in preparation for the incoming class

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling or a related program preferred
    • Minimum of one year of professional experience in academic support services at the secondary or college level preferred
    • Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent computer skills (prefer experience with Colleague or similar data management tool and basic knowledge of Excel
    • A passion for helping students to achieve academic success
    • Teaching experience desired
    • ESL background desired
    • Sensitivity to issues of ethnicity, disability, and diversity
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with a variety of state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations
    • Dedication to the mission of a Catholic, liberal arts institution
