Duties

Function Position Summary

The Coordinator for Career and Technical Education CTE provides strategic leadership in the development implementation evaluation and continuous improvement of Career and Technical Education programming across the district. This role ensures alignment with district strategic priorities the equity plan Postsecondary and Career Expectations PaCE framework College and Career Pathway Endorsements CCPE state and federal guidelines and industry standards.

The Coordinator works collaboratively with teaching and learning staff school leaders postsecondary partners industry representatives and community stakeholders to expand equitable access to high-quality CTE pathways and curriculum increase industry credential attainment and promote college and career readiness for all students.

Job Duties Responsibilities

Curriculum Instruction and Program Development

Lead the development implementation and ongoing revision of vertically aligned standards-based CTE curriculum across all pathways.

Ensure curriculum alignment to Illinois Learning Standards industry standards dual credit expectations and district instructional frameworks.

Establish clear expectations for instructional rigor student engagement and authentic learning experiences that integrate academic and technical content.

Develop and monitor common assessments and performance-based learning measures to ensure consistency coherence and continuous improvement.

Analyze student performance data to guide curriculum adjustments instructional refinement and equitable outcomes across schools and subgroups.

Support culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices that promote access and success for all students.

Lead curriculum review cycles and facilitate cross-school collaboration to ensure fidelity and instructional consistency.

Serve as the district resource on national and Illinois trends research and best practices in Career and Technical Education.

Professional Learning and Staff Support

Design facilitate and evaluate sustained professional development aligned to curriculum implementation and instructional best practices.

Provide ongoing instructional support to CTE teachers including classroom observations feedback and collaborative planning.

Develop onboarding structures and mentorship supports for new CTE educators to ensure effective curriculum implementation.

Collaborate with content coordinators and district instructional leaders to ensure cross-disciplinary coherence and alignment.

Support teachers in integrating literacy numeracy employability skills and career readiness competencies into daily instruction.

Facilitate professional learning communities PLCs focused on student work analysis instructional improvement and pathway advancement.

Industry Credentials and Postsecondary Partnerships

Implement systems to monitor program quality instructional fidelity student credential attainment and pathway completion.

Lead program evaluation processes to ensure high-quality instructional experiences and alignment to workforce and postsecondary expectations.

Support expansion and refinement of industry-recognized credential opportunities that are instructionally embedded and aligned to curriculum.

Maintain certification and compliance for district industry credential programs e.g. AWS ASE NIMS CNA etc..

Work-Based Learning and Career Exploration

Ensure work-based learning experiences are instructionally connected to curriculum and learning standards.

Support teachers in designing authentic project-based and experiential learning opportunities tied to pathway competencies.

Promote structured career exploration experiences that align with classroom instruction and student pathway development.

Leadership and Collaboration

Recruit for hard-to-fill positions and support staffing sustainability.

Collaborate with school administrators to ensure strong implementation of CTE curriculum and instructional expectations.

Participate in district committees aligned to curriculum cycles and strategic initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Professional Educator License PEL with a General Administrative or Principal endorsement.

Advanced formal training in one 1 area of Career and Technical education teaching experience andor 2000 work experience in a vocation field.

Bilingual or ESL endorsement preferred

Experience Knowledge

Extensive experience leading standards-aligned CTE curriculum development assessment design and instructional improvement across multiple pathways.

Strong knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards industry-recognized credentials dual credit expectations and workforce-aligned program evaluation.

Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate sustained professional learning instructional coaching and cross-school collaboration to ensure rigor and equity.

Proven leadership in integrating work-based learning career exploration and postsecondary partnerships into cohesive high-quality instructional programs.

Salary Benefits

The salary range for this position is 100716.00 - 151055.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint 125888.00.
