Summary of Position
Advises and counsels prospective students about YSU admissions policies, procedures, and programs of study. Assists in recommending and implementing recruitment strategies and activities. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies; generally, determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Develops and maintains relationships with high school counselors, administrators, community organizations, and other partners to support recruitment efforts.
Travels as necessary to represent the university at recruitment events, high schools, college fairs, and other programs.
Represents the Office of Admissions at on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, including open houses, visit programs, and special events.
Communicates with prospective students and families through in-person meetings, phone, email, text messaging, virtual appointments, and other communication platforms.
Consults with Undergraduate Admissions staff to set recruitment goals by territory, county, and high school; executes specific strategies (e.g. high school visits, college fair visits, and personal contact with prospective students) to achieve goals.
Interacts with prospective students to counsel and explain admissions policy and procedures; discusses available academic programs.
Provides input for recommendations of recruitment strategies for specific market segments and target groups.
Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives.
Develops and executes a strategic recruitment plan for an assigned territory to achieve enrollment goals.
Maintains accurate recruitment records and communications using the universitys customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Develops and executes appropriate follow-up to prospective students, parents, and other necessary stakeholders in assigned territory.
Serves as Office of Admissions liaison to assigned YSU college(s). Assists and participates in recruitment efforts in assigned college(s).
Serves as Office of Admissions liaison to assigned student service office(s) to assist with recruitment efforts and participate in any programming related to recruitment.
Assists in evaluating admission applications for acceptance on an as-needed basis.
Prepares for and attends events.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Employs strong communication and public relations skills.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Primary Location: Youngstown
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Overnight travel, occasional evening and weekend hours.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Valid driver's license.
Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications: At least an earned bachelors degree in business, education, communications, marketing, or a related field; relevant experience in admissions, higher education, recruitment, sales, customer service, marketing, or a related field, which may be gained through professional employment, internships, graduate assistantships, or significant student leadership roles; valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in higher education administration, counseling, or a related field. One or more years of experience in admissions, recruitment, or higher education; experience preparing and delivering presentations.
Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform medium work.
Medium: work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
