POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides support and assistance to employees, including beginning teachers, alternative licensure teachers, ambassador teachers, and employees new to the district, ensuring their effective transition into the district and specifically into the classroom. Designs and delivers professional learning for all district teachers including teachers that may require additional support. Collaborates with Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Academics, Human Resources, school administrators, mentor coordinators, mentors, and other supervisors to monitor and administer system-wide compliance with the state, federal, and local Beginning Teacher Support Program requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes a relationship with new and beginning teachers including teachers that may require additional support, their mentors, mentor coordinators, and school administrators of an assigned set of schools; collaborates to determine any gaps between needed and existing support. Informally observes and mentors beginning teachers including teachers that may require additional support to provide feedback related to curriculum and instruction, classroom management, and other related areas. Develops and implements differentiated support plans for teachers that may include general orientation, induction, mentoring, coaching, and professional learning. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of training delivered and its effects on the instructional process, student achievement, and system goals. Assists with implementation and oversight of employee evaluation and licensure systems, including but not limited to the NC Educators' Evaluation System for licensed employees. Conducts licensure reviews to verify program codes and determine appropriate beginning teacher status. Monitors, collects, and reviews documentation to support compliance with the state mandated Beginning Teacher Support Program and alternative licensure requirements. Attends and participates in human resources staff meetings, external committees, professional development, WCPSS recruitment events, and other school system functions, as appropriate. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work requires driving automotive equipment. A considerable amount of travel is required to schools, central service offices, and other locations within Wake County.
