Coolers Superintendent

This position will manage and directly supervise our Cooler and Grading operations. This position will ensure production meets objectives consistently and efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall operations of Coolers and Hot Boxes
  • Create a motivated team with hourly and management employees
  • Directly responsible for the Supervisors in Coolers
  • Developing and driving a safety Culture in the department.
  • Working a retention plan, and meeting retention goals.
  • Motivating team members to achieve goals.
  • Actively take part in ensuring the accurate grading of carcasses and measuring the shrink percentages.
  • Tagging and categorizing beef carcasses into appropriate grades and programs based on specifications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of USDA AMS beef quality and yield grading.
  • Developing and sustaining professional rapport with USDA personnel.
  • Achieving goals on efficiencies, and labor.
  • Ensuring the department is in compliance with all food safety
  • Coordinating the production, maintenance, sanitation, and quality environment for operations.
  • Encouraging subordinates to find ways to reduce cost.
  • Ensuring sanitation meets USDA standards, and company standards.
  • Coordinating production and sanitation maintenance to meet daily needs.
  • Analyzing equipment on a daily basis and reviewing with maintenance superintendent.
  • Providing a clear sense of direction for supervisors to work toward and encourage teamwork to achieve goals.
  • Establishing challenging goals and standards for each supervisor and encourage them to give their best effort.
  • Ensuring effective utilization of human resources by training subordinates, motivating consistent performances, appraising performance, recommending salary action and developing for potential promotion.
  • Monitoring operations to meet company policies, quality specifications, USDA and OSHA standards.
  • Conducting plant inspections to eliminate hazardous conditions.
  • Managing all aspects of operations to assure a safe working environment.
  • Taking immediate action to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Past experience in managing employees
  • Bi-lingual preferred but not mandatory

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
  • Salary Range: $90,005 - $121,507
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
