At The Heritage, our Cooks do more than prepare meals—they ensure every resident, guest, and team member enjoys high-quality, safe, and beautifully presented food. This role allows you to showcase your culinary skills, support a positive kitchen environment, and help our dining services run smoothly. What You'll Do

  • Prepare and serve meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements
  • Ensure meals are presented attractively with appropriate garnishes
  • Assist with menu planning alongside the Culinary Manager
  • Support special events and catering within the facility
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and inventory management
  • Lead and guide kitchen and dining staff in the absence of the Culinary Manager
  • Train new staff on kitchen operations, safety, and equipment use
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in all kitchen areas
  • Monitor food quality, consistency, and safety during preparation
  • Follow procedures to reduce waste, control costs, and ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Treat residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights and a positive dining experience

 

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of culinary experience in healthcare, restaurant, or short-order cooking
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe handling practices
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes, portion control, and quality standards
  • Basic math skills for calculating food quantities and minimizing waste
  • Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and move safely throughout a kitchen shift
