What You'll Do
- Prepare and serve meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements
- Ensure meals are presented attractively with appropriate garnishes
- Assist with menu planning alongside the Culinary Manager
- Support special events and catering within the facility
- Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and inventory management
- Lead and guide kitchen and dining staff in the absence of the Culinary Manager
- Train new staff on kitchen operations, safety, and equipment use
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in all kitchen areas
- Monitor food quality, consistency, and safety during preparation
- Follow procedures to reduce waste, control costs, and ensure efficient kitchen operations
- Treat residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights and a positive dining experience
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of culinary experience in healthcare, restaurant, or short-order cooking
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe handling practices
- Ability to follow standardized recipes, portion control, and quality standards
- Basic math skills for calculating food quantities and minimizing waste
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and move safely throughout a kitchen shift
