Description
Fairhaven is looking for an experienced Cook to join our Food Services team!
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week 5:30 AM - 1:30 PM (some flexibility required) - Full time
20 hours per week (flexibility required) - Part time
Pay: $17.30 - $18.75 per hour
What You'll Do
- Prepare and serve meals following menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
- Ensure food is ready and served on time.
- Follow therapeutic diet requirements when preparing meals.
- Check and record food and storage temperatures.
- Keep the kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean and sanitized.
- Manage food substitutions, supplements, and leftover food appropriately.
- Maintain attractive food presentation.
- Provide friendly service and help create a welcoming, home-like environment for residents.
- Protect resident privacy and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and Fairhaven policies.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform kitchen duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for an entire shift, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to read instructions and communicate effectively in English.
- Comfortable working in a Christian retirement community.
Preferred Experience
- At least one year of cooking experience in a restaurant, nursing home, or institutional setting.
- Food service sanitation certification or course completion.
Work Environment
- Kitchen and dining room settings.
- Regular exposure to hot equipment, steam, and hot water.
- Typical healthcare environment serving older adults.
