    Controls Technician III
    Location: San Leandro, California
    Pay Rate: $38.00 – $40.00 per hour

    Position Overview
    An industrial automation and production organization seeks a senior Controls Technician for a six-month onsite contract in San Leandro, California. This role owns automation and control systems, keeping production equipment operating reliably and safely.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled production equipment, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and field instrumentation
    • Work within PLC programs to diagnose logic faults and make approved modifications under change control
    • Calibrate instrumentation and verify proper operation of control panels and safety systems
    • Maintain machine safety systems — interlocks, light curtains, and e-stop circuits — in full compliance
    • Document control system changes, wiring modifications, and program backups accurately
    • Support root cause analysis on recurring faults using alarm logs and trend data
    • Provide technical guidance to maintenance and production colleagues

    Requirements
    • Significant hands-on experience as a controls, automation, or instrumentation technician
    • PLC troubleshooting proficiency and ability to read ladder logic and electrical schematics
    • Working knowledge of VFDs, motor control, and industrial networking
    • Lockout/tagout and arc flash safety competency
    • Availability for full onsite assignment in San Leandro, CA

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC and programming environment experience
    • Familiarity with EtherNet/IP, Profibus, or DeviceNet
    • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical technology, automation, or mechatronics
