    Description

    Title:  Controls Technician (Entry Level)
    Reports To:  Maintenance Manager
    Location:  Valley Enterprises / 2147 Leppek Road, Ubly, Michigan

    Job Requirements                                                                            
    • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or related field.
    • Skilled in Automation & Control Systems Design and Implementation.
    • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications.
    • Confirm systems and components capabilities.
    • Develop electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
    • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators.
    • Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.         
    • Keep equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and establishing procedures; requesting repair service.
    • Maintain product database by writing computer programs; entering data.
    • Complete projects by training and guidance from Controls Engineer.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    Job Preferences
    • Experience in reading ladder logic for various robotic, vision and/or automation applications.
    • Knowledge of electronic systems, electronic troubleshooting, electronic testing design, project management and database design
    • Quality/Safety focused
    • Ability to analyze information and report research results
    • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Auto CAD)
    • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, the ability to be creative/innovative, detail oriented and work independently.
    Job Summary 
    To provide automation solutions (design, wire, program, and implement) and problem-solving expertise to the manufacturing facility.

    Essential Job Functions
    1. Assist the plant with research in the alternative manufacturing methods and/or equipment that would streamline the manufacturing process.
    2. Assist with the Re-Engineering of current manufacturing processes, including the crossover of automation projects throughout the plant.
    3. Work with cross-functional plant teams (or independently) to solve technical product and/or process problems using appropriate problem-solving skills.
    4. Design, develop, install, troubleshoot and verify the implementation of new plant automation (robotic controls & other) systems.
    5. Complete all required wiring, programming, and documentation for automation & integration systems.
    6. Develop knowledge of all plant processes to maximize product output and minimize product cost.
    7. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
