Description

In partnership with our client, a leading U.S. manufacturer of copper and aluminum building wire and cable, ResourceTek is seeking experienced, solutions-driven Controls Technicians to join the team at their facility located near Decatur, AL.

 

The right candidates will work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify automated production equipment, industrial robots, and electrical control systems. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated machinery, electrical panels, and industrial robots.
  • Modify and write minor logic programs for PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMIs.
  • Maintain industrial networks, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and vision or sensor systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures to minimize future production downtime.
  • Support preventative maintenance and calibration of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic instruments.
  • Support electrical assembly during installation of equipment.
  • Advises operators and others of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/ electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Performs lockouts or tag out as required.
  • Assists in responding to all unplanned downtime or breakdowns on machines.
  • Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; preferred Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or Automation.
  • 3 to 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in an automated manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC software, ladder logic, and industrial communication protocols (Allen Bradley RSLogix, Siemens Step 5 & 7, GE Machine Edition, and Mitsubishi)
  • Competency with multi-meters, hand tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to support a project at installation and be the main customer interface.
  • Understanding of RIA robot safety standards, OSHA safety standards, and NFPA 79 and 70E standards
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work at heights on occasion.
  • Ability to work in cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oils, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
