About the Opportunity:

A leading building automation contractor is seeking an experienced Controls Programmer (Level II or III) to support expanding project demand across the Austin metro. This role is ideal for a hands-on BAS professional who wants a true hybrid schedule—balancing remote programming work (60%) with field commissioning and system support.

You will take the lead on municipal, education, and commercial projects, developing programs from the ground up, building user interface graphics, and troubleshooting a wide range of BAS platforms used across schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings.

Position Details:

  • Title: Controls Programmer
  • Location: Austin, TX (60% Remote, 40% On-Site)
  • Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
  • Schedule: Full-Time
  • Territory: Greater Austin area (rare travel outside the region)

What You'll Do:

  • Develop custom BAS control programs and front-end graphics packages
  • Commission, test, and fine-tune automation systems onsite
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing sequences and databases
  • Build and validate BAS databases to meet design specifications
  • Interpret drawings, project specs, and technical documentation
  • Work closely with install teams and commissioning staff for smooth system startup
  • Perform point-to-point device verification and functional testing
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams

Ideal Background:

  • 3+ years in BAS programming or controls technician roles
  • Proficiency with line programming using Reliable Controls, Schneider Electric, or Delta
  • Solid understanding of BACnet protocols and device communication
  • Knowledge of commissioning practices and BAS integration workflows
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and remotely with project teams

What’s Offered:

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000
  • Hybrid work model (60% home-based)
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • 15 Days PTO + 9 Paid Holidays
  • Tools Provided: Laptop, Cell Phone, Gas Card
  • Growth opportunities and access to specialized system training
