Controls Engineer Food & Beverage Systems (50%+ Travel Required)
50% Remote/50% Travel in the US
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support automation projects across the United States. This role focuses heavily on PLC/HMI programming, system commissioning, and electrical troubleshooting for integrated production systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PLC programming based on project requirements
- Create, edit, and integrate HMI applications (FactoryTalk View; Ignition a plus)
- Build and maintain I/O lists to align electrical and program design
- Test, debug, modify, and validate system functions prior to shipment
- Perform onsite startup and commissioning at customer facilities
- Train customer personnel on system operation and program maintenance
- Update and maintain electrical schematics after assembly
- Provide ongoing technical troubleshooting and remote/onsite support
Requirements
- 50% travel for installations, commissioning, and onsite startups
- High-quality PLC & HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk View; Ignition a plus)
- System debugging, validation, and customer training
- Electrical troubleshooting (480V, 110V, low-voltage controls)
- Experience with integrated production systems preferred
- Food/beverage/pharma experience is a plus
- Ability to read AutoCAD P&ID drawings
- Strong analytical and time-management skills
