Description

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Location: New Hudson, MI

Salary Range: $79K - $126K

Work Mode: Onsite

US Citizenship Required 

Summary:

  • Direct hire opportunity
  • Monday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM, with additional effort as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Travel: 10% mostly in the Great Lakes region to test sites
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Experience developing control algorthms and deploying them on real systems.
  2. Model based software development using simulink.
  3. Experience conducting testing and processing data.

Responsibilities:

  • Support vehicle controls and software development, electronics integration, and system commissioning
  • Utilize fundamental engineering knowledge and practices to support design and development of control algorithms
  • Perform assignments with minimal instruction and guidance from senior level engineers and managers
  • Support the development of prototype and concept vehicles with a focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms
  • Define controls architecture, platform, and functionality
  • Create control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink environment
  • Develop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle testing
  • Integrate and commission prototype systems in development vehicles
  • Formulate multi-domain models of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
  • Analyze performance metrics and system specifications from model results
  • Model correlation and validation to test data
  • Use models to develop and test controls algorithms
  • Support design, selection, and integration of electronic components
  • Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff
  • Identify controller hardware to meet I/O and computational requirements
  • Communicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
  • Interact with current and potential customers regarding company systems
  • Participate in planning and program management on internal and customer projects
  • Provide feedback on product needs and processes

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronic Systems
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Be a team player with great attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow
  • Development software and tools for embedded systems such as MotoTron/MotoHawk, Raptor, OpenECU, dSPACE MABX
  • CAN tools like Vector CANape, Vector CANalyzer, Kvaser CanKing
  • Vehicle level simulation with CarSim/TruckSim, ADAMS, Dymola
  • Data acquisition hardware and software experience
  • Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of automotive, robotics, defense, or motorsports industries
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN, Wireless 802.11, DSRC)
  • Understanding of electric and hybrid vehicle architecture
  • Experience in electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic system design and simulation
  • Autonomous and by-wire design
  • Actuator controls (motors, valves)
