Job Title: Controls Engineer
Duration: 6 month (possibility to extend)
Location: Lancaster, NY
Pay Range: $50.00 - $57.94 per hourJob Description
We are seeking a Cooling Controls Engineer to drive security enablement across cooling control products, ensuring security features are built into and enabled by default within the development environment before products are released.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on taking existing and developing cooling products and ensuring they meet security requirements prior to release. The engineer will work directly within CAREL, PLC, and network management development environments, writing and modifying code, enabling security functionality, testing changes, and supporting products through secure release.
The ideal candidate combines a strong cooling/control engineering background with hands-on software development experience and is comfortable working directly within controls development platforms.
Responsibilities- Drive security enablement for cooling control products throughout the development and release lifecycle.
- Take products within development environments and enable required security features by default prior to release.
- Write, modify, and maintain code across CAREL, PLC, and network management platforms.
- Implement security-related changes and functionality within existing controls applications.
- Test and validate controls functionality following security-related changes.
- Troubleshoot coding, controls, and integration issues arising during development.
- Support the transition of products from development into secure, release-ready configurations.
- Work hands-on with cooling control components and their associated development tools.
Must Have- 3+ years of relevant controls engineering, cooling controls, or controls software development experience.
- Hands-on experience working with CAREL components and development platforms.
- Experience developing and writing code within PLC environments.
- Experience working with network management controllers/cards.
- Strong hands-on coding experience within controls development platforms. This role requires someone who can actively develop and modify code, not solely configure or maintain systems.
- Experience supporting products through the development, testing, and release process.
- Experience with CAREL 1tool, c.suite, and/or related CAREL development environments.
Preferred Background- Cooling, HVAC, refrigeration, or thermal management controls.
- Embedded controls or controls software development.
- PLC programming.
- Connected or network-managed cooling equipment.
- Product development environments where security functionality is incorporated into controls software prior to release.
What We’re Looking ForThis role sits at the intersection of cooling controls development and product security. The strongest candidate will understand the controls and software behind cooling products and be comfortable getting directly into the development environment to write code, enable security functionality, troubleshoot issues, validate changes, and help deliver secure products to market.
The biggest change here is that security enablement now reads as the reason the position exists, rather than one responsibility among many. The CAREL/PLC/cooling experience is positioned as the technical skill set needed to execute that mission.
