We are seeking a motivated Controls Engineer II to join a growing automation engineering team specializing in material handling, sortation, and distribution systems. The CE2 is an emerging-level controls engineering professional who will contribute meaningfully to PLC programming, controls commissioning, and technical support on active automation projects — all under the mentorship and guidance of senior engineers.

Assist in the development and modification of PLC programs under the direction of senior controls engineers
Support on-site commissioning, testing, and startup activities for automated material handling and sortation systems
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and I/O documentation
Collaborate with senior engineers, project leads, and cross-functional teams on controls deliverables
Perform on-site troubleshooting and assist in resolving controls-related issues during system startup
Document controls changes, software updates, and field modifications accurately and thoroughly
Participate actively in project team meetings and technical reviews
Continuously develop technical skills and expand knowledge base in material handling automation controls
Entry- to mid-level experience in controls engineering or industrial automation
Exposure to PLC programming; Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000 experience preferred
Ability to read electrical schematics and basic control system documentation
Eagerness to learn and grow within a field-based, project-driven environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field — required or in progress; equivalent technical experience will be considered
2-4 years of controls or automation engineering experience
Exposure to material handling, conveyor, sortation, or broader industrial automation environments
Any prior field commissioning or system startup experience is a distinct advantage
