    Schedule: 12-hour shifts | 7:00 PM–7:00 AM | 2-2-3 schedule
    Compensation: $38–$44/hour + shift premiums
    Employment: Full-Time


    About the Opportunity

    OpTalent is partnering with a large, highly automated manufacturing and distribution operation in McDonough, GA to recruit an experienced Automation Technician.

    This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced automation professional who can troubleshoot complex electrical, PLC, robotic, controls and material-handling systems in a high-volume 24/7 operation.

    You will serve as a technical resource for complex equipment issues while working closely with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations to improve equipment reliability, uptime and throughput.

    What You'll Do

    • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, drives, transformers, control panels and power distribution.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment and industrial control systems.
    • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, encoders and networked controls.
    • Troubleshoot and maintain robotic systems, automated sortation, conveyors, AMRs and automated packaging equipment.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs and mechanical drawings.
    • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
    • Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, throughput, reliability and OEE.
    • Support equipment installations, upgrades and engineering projects.
    • Work with Engineering, Operations, vendors and other technical teams to resolve complex issues.
    • Mentor and support other maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and technical best practices.
    • Maintain a strong focus on safety, including proper LOTO and electrical safety procedures.
    • Provide support during occasional after-hours and weekend requirements.

    What We're Looking For

    • 5–7+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with a strong focus on automation and controls.
    • Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs.
    • Industrial electrical experience, including systems up to 480V.
    • Experience with robotics, automated material handling, conveyors or other highly automated equipment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic and technical documentation.
    • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, HMIs, sensors and industrial controls.
    • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
    • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation or a related field is preferred.

    Schedule & Compensation

    • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
    • 2-2-3 schedule. 36 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours
