Job Details
A growing aerospace manufacturing company in the Burlington area is adding a Controller to its leadership team. This is a newly important role within the organization as the business continues to expand and improve its financial and operational infrastructure.
The Controller will work closely with the President and senior leadership, providing the financial visibility needed to make informed business decisions. This person will have ownership over the accounting function while also contributing to budgeting, cost management, forecasting, process improvement, and broader business strategy.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to be more than a back-office accounting leader. You'll have the opportunity to understand how the business operates, identify what's working and what isn't, and help leadership make decisions based on the numbers.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Management
Take ownership of the company's accounting and financial reporting functions.
Lead monthly and year-end close and ensure leadership has accurate financial information.
Build and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Track financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Develop meaningful financial and operational metrics for leadership.
Manufacturing Finance
Partner with operations to understand manufacturing costs and profitability.
Oversee product and project costing, including absorption accounting.
Review material, labor, inventory, and overhead costs.
Analyze differences between expected and actual costs.
Help leadership understand the financial impact of changes in production, materials, products, and processes.
Identify opportunities to improve cost controls and overall financial performance.
Accounting & Compliance
Maintain strong accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
Manage relationships with external auditors and support the annual audit.
Oversee tax, insurance, treasury, and other financial administration.
Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes.
Ensure the organization maintains accurate and reliable financial data.
Business Partnership
Serve as a trusted financial resource to the President and leadership team.
Provide analysis that supports growth, investment, staffing, and operational decisions.
Participate in company-wide planning and strategic initiatives.
Work cross-functionally with operations, HR, and IT.
Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting and administrative team members.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with finance leaders who have a strong combination of accounting expertise, manufacturing experience, and business judgment.
You'll ideally bring:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
8+ years of accounting/finance leadership experience.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
Aerospace, aviation, aircraft, defense, or similar industry experience is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing finance.
Experience with standard costing, absorption accounting, inventory, and variance analysis.
Budgeting and forecasting experience.
Strong financial reporting and analytical capabilities.
Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both executives and operational teams.
CPA is a plus, but not required.
