This critical leadership role oversees full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and treasury functions while mentoring an in-house accounting team and interfacing directly with executive client leadership.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Controller for our Real Estate Property Management division. This role requires a dynamic professional who is skilled in overseeing financial operations within a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RUBS, multifamily, apartments, mixed-use units, accounting, accruals, Yardi, and RealPage. We are looking for someone who can lead with confidence, manage financial risks, and drive our financial strategy to new heights.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all accounting operations for our portfolio of multifamily, apartments, and mixed-use units.
2. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
3. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
4. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
5. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
6. Manage the production of annual budgets and forecasts.
7. Implement and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
8. Use Yardi and RealPage software to manage financial data and create insightful financial reports.
9. Work closely with property managers and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and guidance.
10. Oversee the calculation and distribution of RUBS (Ratio Utility Billing System) to tenants.
11. Manage the accruals and prepayments, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or CPA is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, preferably in the real estate industry.
3. Proven experience with RUBS, multifamily, apartments, mixed-use units, accounting, accruals, Yardi, and RealPage.
4. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
5. Excellent ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
6. Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
7. Strong leadership skills with the ability to make decisions and motivate teams.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and act tactically.
10. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
