Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the organization's day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
• Oversee general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Manage and ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for executive leadership and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and nonprofit requirements.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate and improve accounting systems, infrastructure, and financial workflows.
• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop members of the finance and accounting team.
• Partner with executive leadership and operational teams to provide meaningful financial insight and support decision-making.
• Explain complex financial information in a clear and accessible manner to non-financial stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and financial reporting.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced and evolving organization.
• Support organizational goals through sound financial leadership, analysis, and best practices.
• Maintain the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, accuracy, and financial integrity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Significant experience in nonprofit accounting and finance.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Experience managing and developing finance/accounting teams.
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial management systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• High degree of integrity and ethical judgment.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, complex, and rapidly changing environment.
• Strong hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic leadership with tactical execution.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred:

CPA
MBA
Experience with government-funded programs, grants, or contracts
Experience in human services, healthcare, behavioral health, or other mission-driven nonprofit environments
