Our esteemed client, a premier manufacturer of luxury home goods, is seeking a Controller for its continually growing business.
 
Overall Job:
The Controller position will provide financial leadership throughout the client's organization.  Reporting to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for accounting, reporting and financial planning functions within the company and its subsidiaries.
 
Financial and Accounting Leadership
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial reporting and business analysis on all entities within the company's Senior Management.
  • Assure that financial plans are consistent with business activities and organizational goals.
  • Maintain a monthly Cash Forecasting process to project cash requirements and availability over the next 12 months.  Ensure that Cash Forecasts reflect business operating plans and upcoming projects.
  • Provide all financial reporting required by the company's banking partners on a timely basis.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls and safeguards to ensure accurate accounting transactions and reporting.
  • Manage the overall direction, function and performance of all Accounting team members - covering areas including Customer Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger updates.  Identify opportunities for process improvements within the Accounting functions. 
  • Manage weekly prioritization and payment of vendor invoices.
 
Team Leadership
  • Leverage the strengths of the current accounting team members; help to assign roles and responsibilities.  Identify and implement accounting training plans in order to increase accounting expertise with the team members.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization.  Promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Manage the accounting team members in accordance with company policies and applicable laws – including hiring, directing work, reviewing status, performance reviews and resolving problems.
 
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in corporate accounting management roles.  Experience in a product manufacturing business is a plus.
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • Commitment to building and developing a quality accounting team.  Ability to delegate and manage a multi-person team.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, honesty and unwavering commitment to the company's ongoing growth and profitability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including effectively communicating financial information and metrics to operating management.
