We are looking for an experienced Controller to join the Houston organization and take ownership of accounting, financial reporting, controls, and operational finance for a key area of the business.

This is a highly visible position for someone who understands both the technical side of accounting and how financial information connects to the actual operation of a manufacturing or energy business.

Job Details

The Controller will lead the accounting and financial-control activities supporting a significant operating group within the organization.

This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial reporting while acting as a financial partner to operational leadership. The ideal candidate understands how inventory, manufacturing costs, margins, revenue, working capital, and operational activity ultimately flow through the financial statements.

You will operate in an environment where strong technical accounting fundamentals need to be paired with commercial judgment and the ability to understand the business behind the numbers.

Responsibilities

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities while ensuring accurate and timely reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
Own accounting operations, balance-sheet integrity, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting for the assigned business.
Maintain and strengthen SOX controls, accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal-control processes.
Partner closely with operations and business leadership to analyze margins, manufacturing costs, inventory, working capital, and overall financial performance.
Oversee cost accounting and inventory-related accounting within a complex manufacturing or operational environment.
Coordinate internal and external audit requirements and ensure issues are identified, documented, and resolved.
Lead, develop, and mentor accounting professionals while improving processes, reporting quality, and operating efficiency.
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic business initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Approximately 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility.
Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable accounting leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
Experience within manufacturing, industrial, energy, oilfield services, or another operationally complex environment strongly preferred.
Experience working within a SOX-controlled and/or publicly traded company environment strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, operational finance, or manufacturing accounting.
CPA is preferred but not required with sufficiently strong industry experience.
