Position Overview

A well-established, privately held manufacturing organization specializing in custom, heavy-duty industrial equipment is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the company’s accounting and financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
• 
  
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• 
  
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and key performance metrics.
• 
  
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and reconciliations.
• 
  
• Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• 
  
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• 
  
• Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory, job/project profitability, and variances.
• 
  
• Partner with operations and leadership to improve financial controls, processes, and profitability.
• 
  
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital.
• 
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls.
• 
  
• Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, banking partners, and other financial professionals.
• 
  
• Oversee and develop accounting staff, providing leadership, direction, and accountability.
• 
  
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, reporting, and overall efficiency.

• Support ownership and executive leadership with financial analysis and recommendations.
• 
  

Qualifications

• 
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 
  
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 
  
• Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience strongly preferred.
• 
  
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, job costing, and manufacturing financials.
• 
  
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
• 
  
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills.
• 
  
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• 
  
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both financial and operational teams.
• 
  
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically while remaining involved in the details.
