Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting across multiple legal entities, including monthly and year-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and consolidated financial statements.

  • Manage construction accounting, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, budget-versus-actual reporting, and project profitability analysis.

  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, treasury management, banking activities, and construction financing.

  • Manage accounts payable, company credit cards, vendor invoices, payment workflows, and paperless billing and autopay processes.

  • Oversee payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, employee records, new-hire paperwork, wage changes, and PTO tracking.

  • Administer the company's 401(k) plan, including employee contributions, employer matching, profit-sharing contributions, and compliance requirements.

  • Support rental property accounting, including property-level reporting, rent receipts, vendor payments, mortgage schedules, and property expenses.

  • Coordinate with external CPA firms on tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews.

  • Oversee insurance, bonding, and financial risk management in partnership with ownership and the property management team.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, automate workflows, strengthen internal controls, and enhance financial reporting.

  • Supervise accounting and payroll personnel while providing financial insight and recommendations to ownership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within residential construction, custom homebuilding, or a related industry.

  • Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, project budgets, and construction loan draws.

  • Experience managing multiple legal entities, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting.

  • Hands-on knowledge of payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and 401(k) administration.

  • Experience with cash flow management, financial forecasting, and banking or lender relationships.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.

  • A process-oriented mindset with an interest in technology, automation, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and communicate effectively with ownership and external financial partners.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA designation is a plus.
